Business first. So we only have thirty minutes on this computer and it
kicks us off each week. I find it best if you guys send your emails through
dearelder.com. You just type set up an account, type the letter, and it
will print it off and deliver it to me. It just takes precious time that i
don't have reading the email. To send the dear elder you need my box which
is SING-APR #87 and departure date 11/03.
FAMILY HELLO,
Family i'm a fool. I thought only of the hot weather in Singapura when I
packed. Who knew it got cold in September here in Provo. I don't know what
to ask for. Mainly I want those long warm up pants (black with blue waist
band) and my light blue jeans. they should be on the top of one of those
blue bins. Sorry if they're not. Also if you could stick in one of my zip
ups sweat shirts i would love you. Hey i was thinking, if you are coming to
provo you can just drop off deliveries for missionaires at the mail services
behind the mtc in a bag or something, tell em my departure date and mission,
and it's cheaper than mailing a package, if you're coming to Homecoming or
something. It's not that cold yet but I might die come Oct. Also my shower
flip flops broke, just need some cheap plastic ones. Man I feel bad.
But i am more prepared than sister goodwin. She forgot EVERYTHING! Except
she did remember hundreds of cards and stationary, huge bags of markers and
colored pencils, stickers, and wax sticks to seal her envelopes....??
Biggest news of the week! Word got to the MTC that Pres Monson was speaking
at BYU on Tues and we were all pretty bummed that he didn't choose the MTC.
There were speculations going around that he was going to speak here too but
I didn't believe it, just too good to be true. So I figured that whoever
was going to speak would be a let down next to the prophet. NOT SO. We were
singing the usual hymns and who should walk in! Elder Jeffrey Holland. I
was so happy. I love hearing him speak i think he is my favorite. I should
have counted how many times he pounded the pulpit and started a thought with
"Don't you dare..." It was very powerful, of course it was. I was happy
for Sister goodwin because she has never heard an apostle speak except at
general conference. she always talks about how the Elders of the church are
so stiff. It was fun for her to see Elder Holland act and speak in such a
relaxed setting. She says they seem more real now. I've been blessed to be
able to see so many speak at BYU. They're just different when they speak in
front of a bunch of young kids.
The language is coming, coming all the way from Singapore by snail mail,
but it's coming ever so slowly. We taught at the TRC for the first time to
a lady from Indonesia. That was scary. We taught the first lesson in
Indonesian but man was it bad haha. We would ask her questions and just nod
stupidly at her response because we couldn't understand and dang thing. She
was nice at least! It was very humbling.
Let's see what else, this weeks tournament between the two Indonesian
districts was on the sand volleyball court. The tournament lasted the
entire week but our district came out victorious. We're lucky to have some
incredibly tall and athletic Elders. It was so hard to play because I would
be laughing so hard that I couldn't even move. Man these elders crack me up.
They're SO COMPETETIVE.
I know there's more I want to say but I'm reading the Five minute mark and
I'm panicking and drawing a blank!
It's fun to see a lot of people I know. A lot of people in my ward last
year teach here and I see then walking around every once in awhile. I think
i saw Elder Truman here to but I only recognize him from pictures so i'm not
entirely sure it's him. I'll probably just say hi next time anyway.
Sister Wing continues to make me laugh. Imagine her talking like the mom on
the old tv series Bobby's World. She's got a funny accent which is weird
because she is from Bountiful. I love sitting by her when we go to the RC
because she kind of panicks on the phones. Sooooo entertaining. Her hands
are flyin in the air and she doesn't know what to say and she's lookin at me
all terrified. Oh man it's so hard not to laugh. the Telefund job really
prepared me for RC work. I have no problem speaking on the phones with
people. It's always fun when they people that call in say it's ok for me to
send over some representatives in their area. REAL LIVE MISSIONARY WORK.
Mostly people call in from the south askin for a Bible in their southern
accents. They're funny people down there.
So you wanna hear some indonesian??
Saya ingin membagikan kesaksian saya, saya tahu bahawa Yesus Kristus adalah
benar dan bahawa Dia adalah jurusalamat kita. Saya tahu bahawa Yesus
Kristus menebus untuk dosa dosa kita dan bahawa Dia mengasihi kita. Saya
besaksi bahwa Joseph smith adalah seorang nabi Allah dan Nabi Monson adalah
seorang nabi Allah untuk Zaman kita. Saya tahu bahawa Joseph Smith
menterjahmakan Kitab Mormon dan bawhawa Kitab Mormon adalah Benar. Dalam
nama Yesus Kristus Amin.
That's the testimony peeps be impressed. I finally have it memorized and
it's about time too. our district had a goal to bear it five times a day
for a week. I would just stop random missionaries and tell them to sit
tight and listen to my testimony. It's a good time. Now we're on to
practicing contacting to random missionaries walking by in Indo. They keep
us busy.
My hands are frozen I think im sitting next to the AC. I have a minute left
so I better send this and go. I'm sure there's something I'm forgetting to
say....
oh wells
Jumpa Lagi Selamat tengha hari
